Just the wiring might be different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My main goal was to increase the torque (i.e. go faster uphill). So I needed to put a controller with more current (<strong>Ampere<\/strong>). If I would want to increase speed I would need to connect a <strong>48V <\/strong>instead of a 36V battery. Please read on to see how I did it! This is more or less what I expect the motor to be able to handle continuously without overheating (it is officially rated 250 Watts). Of course I still need to do proper testing to be able to say that everything is working fine&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#ff0000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Note: If you want to play it more safe, I will also link an <strong>8A controller <\/strong>with the same wiring below&#8230; esp. if you have a bike like D11, D2s, etc. You will get all advantages except little less torque. Consider that if you would put 20A (which is the peak current of the 10A controller) and an 48V battery it would mean almost 1000 Watts (20&#215;48)!!! choose 5 speeds or imitation of torque sensor &#8211; there is <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/stancecoke\/BMSBattery_S_controllers_firmware\/wiki\">an open source firmware<\/a> if you want a real torque sensor, but you might need different display)<\/li><li><strong>no speed limit for PAS <\/strong>(stock controller caps PAS at 25 km\/h)<\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: var(--list--font-family);background-color: var(--global--color-background);color: var(--global--color-primary);font-size: var(--global--font-size-base)\"><strong>walking <\/strong>mode<\/span> (for example when you stop on a very steep hill and have to push the bike up)<\/li><li><strong>cruise <\/strong>control<\/li><li>display has a <strong>USB <\/strong>connector (to charge your smartphone)<\/li><li><strong>48V <\/strong>support (if you not only want more power but also more speed)<\/li><li><strong>throttle <\/strong>can be disabled (i.e. just used while pedaling or until 6 km\/h which is ok in Germany)<\/li><li><strong>speed <\/strong>can be limited to 25 km\/h, but you can also go faster (same as with the old controller, but you can more easily change it while driving)<\/li><li>display also shows <strong>Volts<\/strong> (useful to understand why bike is faster when fully charged for example)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Quick Manual for the display: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.szktdz.com\/upload\/file\/20170914\/20170914145129_54695.pdf\">click here<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n<a class=\"call-to-action-button heartbeat\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aliexpress.com\/item\/32998740994.html\">10A KT Controller @ aliexpress<\/a>\n<a class=\"call-to-action-button heartbeat\" href=\"https:\/\/s.click.aliexpress.com\/e\/_AlRQ9i\">8A KT Controller<\/a>\n<a class=\"call-to-action-button heartbeat\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aliexpress.com\/item\/1005001658410515.html\">7A KT Controller (see video of Jonas Krug)<\/a>\n<a class=\"call-to-action-button heartbeat\" href=\"https:\/\/s.click.aliexpress.com\/e\/_9hKNrv\">KT Display (I ordered the one with USB) @ aliexpress<\/a>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"preparations\">Preparations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When messing with the controller it is vital to know that the battery shells (i.e. the 2 covers that connect the controller with the battery department) can be mounted upside down. <span style=\"color:#ff0000\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>If you connect minus to plus you will create a short circuit and a small fire!<\/strong><\/span> As a rule of thumb <strong>positive should always be facing down<\/strong>! (when the wiring is different) is to cut the connectors and <strong>solder <\/strong>the wires (and to add heat shrink tubing as insulation). But as I already said I wanted to keep the old controller fully functional. It is &#8220;motor gear reduction ratio x number of rotor magnet pieces&#8221;. I counted 20 magnets on a picture on Alibaba for my motor (CZJB 90tz sticker) and it says between 4.33 and 5.2 gear reduction. I set it to 104 for the D4S (20*5.2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I had to experiment with C1 which is for the <strong>PAS<\/strong>. First I set it to 7 like Jonas, but it just gave me short bursts, but in the end 4 worked for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Set C4 to 3 if <strong>throttle only <\/strong>is not allowed in your country. C7 can be set to 0 if <strong>cruise control <\/strong>is not allowed in your country.
